Pecan Extract and Praline Liqueur Recipe

Disclosure

Do you have pecans falling from your trees? Well we do. A lot of pecans, in fact. I have been coming up with many different and inventive ways to use all of them. This includes baking and cooking, canning and freezing all of them. And now I have another method, making pecan extract and praline liqueur.

This recipe is set up into two sections. First is to make the pecan extract which is just three great ingredients; toasted pecans, vanilla bean, and vodka. Once this mixture seeps together for three weeks then you have yourself pecan extract. This extract works great in the fan favorite Butter Pecan Pound Cake. You can also add it to pancake or waffle batter instead of the standard vanilla extract.

Or how about adding three more ingredients to turn the pecan extract into an adult beverage. I enjoy the occasional cocktail on a weekend night. Sitting with my husband on our front porch having an adult beverage while the children are sleeping can be one of my favorite and relaxing times. A special at-home date night if you will.

And making my own delicious liqueurs for these nights gives me a wide range of options to choose from and enjoy. Making my own liqueurs is actually quite cheaper as well than going out to buy it from the liqueur store. All I need is a good vodka on hand and I can make anything.

And liqueurs don’t have to stop at nut flavors. I have made ones with fruit like my pineapple and strawberry liqueurs. I have also made strong cinnamon flavor.
