How To Make Bang Bang Shrimp

We’re going to separate the shrimp and the sauce recipes. You’ll need about a pound of medium shrimp that have been peeled and deveined. Also grab some buttermilk, cornstarch, and vegetable oil.

Using a Dutch oven,heat about two inches of oil to 375 degrees. I suggest using a thermometer if you have one handy.

While you’re waiting for the oil to heat up, combine the shrimp and buttermilk in a bowl, and add the cornstarch in a separate zip top bag. Remove the shrimp from the bowl and shake off any excess butter milk. Then place them in the bag with the cornstarch. Next, shake the bag up to coat thoroughly. Then, remove the shrimp.

Fry the shrimp in batches; about one minute on each side. When they come out of the Dutch oven, place them on a paper towel-lined plate.

For the Sauce

For this tangy, yummy sauce, simply mix up mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha in a bowl. You can cover the bowl and place it in the fridge while you cook the shrimp too if you’d like. When the shrimp are done, drizzle the sauce on top or toss them to coat. You don’t have to use all the sauce on the first go. I also like to reserve it for dipping! You can also sprinkle the shrimp with chives for some added flavor and color.
